 | Using Dr TCIP I am running DR TCIP and trying to set according to my test results

I am trying to enter TCP receive window as 75000 and MTU as 1500. I save and exit and restart the PC - but when I run the tweak test nothing has changed. Ideas |

Supposed to be a Verizon DSL 7.1 mbps download |

Download DrTcp
Set Tcp Receive Window to 63888
Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

 | reply to vandergraff2 Thanks for making these suggestions. I tried making those changes. It doesn't look like Receive Window (RWIN) is being updated by Dr TCIP (my OS is Windows XP Media Center)

Speed test 1 (City 1)

Speed test 2 (city 2)

Download speed after ~ 30 secs from »»ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512 was ~460KB/s |

 | Thanks - I tried TCP Otimizer and that seemed to be able adjust the TCP receive window. It looks like the Verizon speed optimizer changes the TCP receive window in way that Dr TCP cannot overide. Anyway download speeds on the Java speed tests are still about 4.5Mbps - interestingly the Flash based speed tests report 5.6 - 6.6 Mbps download speed.
I know it says the Java test is more accurate for higher speed connections - but the Flash based tests say they are appropriate for up to 20Mbps connections.
Wonder why there is a big and consistent different.
I tend to believe the Java based test as its result is similar to Verizon's speed test at 4.5 Mbps |
