What's the point?

Why should I go to DSLReports Twitter page to see the days headlines and main topics of discussion with links when I can just go to www.dslreports.com and be done with it?

I think social networking is pretty retarded to begin with, but Twitter, no matter how hard I try to wrap my head around it, is just asinine. I fail to understand the concept of it and am baffled at how popular it is. And being limited to 140 characters, just about every tweet I've ever had the displeasure of reading is so nonsensical to the point I cannot comprehend what is trying to be said.

What's even worse is people who follow celebrities, no I really don't care what Oprah had for lunch, no I don't care what's on Ashton Kutcher's mind, why does anyone, or should I say ne1? And I'm willing to bet 99% of these celebrities don't even post their own tweets, they're probably made by some publicist or assistant.

I agree with about 75% of your comment. I dont understand what the point of having a DSLreports or any other company twitter page would be. Cant the company simply post the same infomation on their own site?

I don't understand the whole celeberty thing either. All celeberies are pretty much, more or less, living products. They were once famous because they were REALLY good and worked hard on what they do.. now their just overpaid, white, party animals but thats a whole other subject.

I use Google Reader myself--it aggregates news items from across multiple sites (which is the point).

Celebrities? kind of irrelevant to the point

Twitter is only big because of celebrities.

Only thing that is irrelevant in all of this is Twitter itself. It's a stupid concept, there is no point to it, and in 2 or 3 years from now will be forgotten about. The sooner the better. Things come in waves. AIM is just about dead, PedophileSpace is dead only a matter of time for Twitter and Facebook.

**Ooooh look at me, people care what I'm doing right now, people care what's on my mind, follow me on Twitter** LAME!

And I still have yet to comprehend why checking Twitter is better/easier then coming to this or any other site only to get the same exact information. When I signed up for this atrocity of the English language and reasonable thought, I started following Orbitcast, a satellite radio news site, but what idiot would just go to a site, only to get links to go to another site. Sometimes I wish it was 1995 again, before all this stupidness. Heaven forbid if some 16 year old girl can't update her Facebook every second of the day. This social networking crap needs to go.

Possibly, but, to be honest, I don't even believe in the concept of "celebrity"... I just don't care--and I don't care what other people are up to or what stuff they use. Twitter is a tool that's either used or mis-used just as easily as any other tool. Whether it succeeds or fails as a tool depends on how useful it is to those who use it; so if I don't use it, then why should I give it a second thought regarding whether others do. I don't. It has no effect on me whatsoever. I'm not into social networking. I'm not into blogging. BFD if someone else is.
