Re: Help with PS3 NAT Type I have not tried a PS3, but i would forget about playing it on a satellite connection. Satellite latency will undoubtedly make the games unplayable and you will blow the FAP in 45 minutes. |
|
 | I have heard that but even with the satellite I've played good games of Killzone 2 and when my friend and I play Uncharted 2 co op, it's lag free. It's actually getting into the game is where the problem is. |
|
1 edit | So basically it won't find a server when I ask it to but if the game has a server list, I'm cool.
I figure if I get Nat 2, I'll be cool because it can find the servers the games are hosting. I literally left Uncharted 2 looking for a server for 15 minutes and when I invited my friend, it was absolutely lag free.
Some games don't let me connect with my friends, like Resident Evil 5 and Borderlands and it's because of the Nat type.
I put the PS3 in my room just now, where it has about a 70% connection, and I got into a Killzone 2 match without lag. It just takes longer to sign in to PSN and the servers. |

moag join:2009-11-03 Ann Arbor, MI | reply to Chaos_Bladez the lag isnt between your room and the router... it is between your satellite dish and outer space and maryland. |
|
 | No I get where the lag is, I'm just saying Killzone 2 is very much playable. I figure even if the "lag" is still there, the Nat type change will help me get into the "laggy" matches faster, or at all in MW2 and Uncharted 2's case.
I can't seem to find a good guide and a link would be greatly appreciated.
I really appreciate this moag. |

moag join:2009-11-03 Ann Arbor, MI | from what i am reading, the nat 3 error has more to do with your router settings (UPnP, port forwarding) than your provider. i dont really want to give you a link because I do not have a ps3 myself, and you can probably find a better one than me by adding your specific router to the search and such... you also might want to see if dd-wrt has special router firmware designed for the ps3. i know they do for the xbox that works great
tip - get a piece of paper out. write down anything you change in case you screw up. |
|
 | I don't know how to get into the UPnP (or any other settings) with Hughesnet to be honest. I can with any other router but not this one. It's the HN 9000 one they gave me.
I think if I could get that I can do it. |

moag join:2009-11-03 Ann Arbor, MI | spend a few days poking around... you have a lot to learn before you conquer port forwarding the hughesnet modem has nothing to do with any of that, you need to access your router.
probably »192.168.1.1/ or »192.168.2.1/ depending on your router
remember, write down anything you change. |

 | I think I'm reluctant to actually think because I remember more than a month ago I spent hours and hours across a week trying to get it to work. It obviously didn't.
What I'm trying to say is I can't get into my Hughesnet router settings, so I can't forward ports. If someone could tell me this, that'd be great. |

There are no settings in the Hughes modem that you can change. You can only change the settings in your separate router.
I doubt that you can get higher than nat3 without a static IP. You can not forward ports without a static IP.

So what happens if I just do a static IP and forward ports on my router since I can't get into my modem? |

its over your head and not worth the effort at all. abandon hope |

To be completely honest, I kind of hate it. The stupid FAP that they tell the day they come to set it up then it won't work with games and how it's so over priced. Very very stupid. |
