 | I left Verizon DSL and went to Comcast HSI instead of FIOS I left Verizon DSL and went with Comcast HSI just about a month ago. I had always dreamed of getting FIOS and FIOS was available but I decided to go with Comcast in the end because of Comcast's self-install option versus taking a day off from work and suffer through a possibly long and intrusive FIOS installation. In addition, I like the ease of using any router you want with Comcast HSI.
Also, I decided to stick with Comcast cable TV over going with FIOS TV because of the same installation reasons as above and because Comcast is better for those with lots of legacy analog equipment (SD Tivo, VCRs, HD/DVD recorders, PC analog TV tuners) that we don't want to throw out just yet. Comcast still provides some channels in analog and provides 2 free DTAs and an SD set-top box for no cost for those coming from basic analog. |

 | Why couldn't you use your own router with FiOS? If their router is doing NAT, can't you just turn NAT off (or have them do it) and let it pass the public IP through to a router you install? |
