| What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? That's the true measure of whether Buckeye is serious about pushing out the benefits of fiber to its customers. They could just keep 12/1 and 20/1 maximum tiers for customers (depending on whether you bundle...I'd be limited to 12/1) even though they're on fiber. Or they could push things up a little (maybe 12/2 and 20/5) or a lot (15/5 and 30/10) on the higher tiers, adding speed to lower tiers as well.
Buckete is one of the more expensive providers as speed vs. pricing goes; I think they're even more expensive than SuddenLink for equivalent speeds (assuming you get rated speeds on SL). Hopefully this will gve folks in Toledo a better broadband option; I know I'd hate to be limited to 1 Mbps of upload speed on a cable connection.

| Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? Buckeye offers faster speeds, better service and overall better product that ATT. Buckeye had Cable modem via dial-up upload before Ameritech even thought of doing Internet with Prodigy back in the day.
You get what you pay for and with Buckeye you get a lot. Does Suddenlink or Comcast give you their CEO and President's HOME phone number or cell phone to call at 2am in the morning? NOPE! But Buckeye does! -- www.two-pugs.com www.2pugs.etsy.com

| | | Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? I'm not seeing quite a few HD channels in Buckeye Cable's channel lineup that at&t currently does have. Not that Uverse is perfect.
The speeds look comparable to U-Verse. What do you get with Buckeye cable that you don't get already with Uverse? The prices look pretty comparable.
I think it's great that they're pulling fiber closer to the home, though.

| | | | Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? 3days of credit from Buckeye that ATT doesn't give you if you're services are out. You also get the CEO and the Presidents HOME and CELL numbers. I can't get that from ATT. -- www.two-pugs.com www.2pugs.etsy.com | |

| | | 1 edit | Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? So $5 and another phone number? I guess that's SOMETHING to try and differentiate from the other companies. I mean, is the PQ great at Buckeye Cable? I know first hand that Fios PQ is the best I've seen from all of the providers in many corners of the country. at&t isn't perfect, but they have tons of HD channels and they have many HD channels in their basic HD tier that are in Buckeye's premium tier. They're pretty expensive though. I dunno, nothing against them, but you seem to LOVE LOVE LOVE them. Like I said, it's really great that they're doing what they're doing, but I do really see anything special in their service that separates them from the pack. | |

Buckeye Cable, underwhelming and overpriced, sells itself being LOCAL really they should say ONLY CHOICE. Step it up ATT lets see some Uverse come out, i want a few more MB's and have been considering jumping ship lately.

And you have a choice, DirecTV or build out yourself. Also if you have problems call and talk to Mr. Block maybe you'll get them fixed. and stop being a hater. -- www.two-pugs.com www.2pugs.etsy.com

| Don't know about the CEO's home and cellular numbers, but Insight Broadband appears to be similar in its down-home style, but with faster speeds at lower prices (30/3 for $70 vs. 12/1).
BEX may have gotten return-dial cable before everyone else, but they're falling behind the times these days.

| Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? in terms of what TV? BEX has the fastest speeds in Ohio. ATT is lucky if they offer their U-Verse in your area and you're lucky if it works in Toledo.
Tate on here used to work for Buckeye and is a customer he should be able to confirm this, i'll also look for the letter i got last year and post the numbers. After all they're in the phone book --- house number that is.
BEX will out due ATT and anyone else once they get the FTTH in and keep expanding. After all they're the only one really over building now days. -- www.two-pugs.com www.2pugs.etsy.com

| Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? OVerbuilding as in they aren't the MSO? Sorry, lost me there.
Also, for residential internet-only service (comparing aples to apples, since I wouldn't get TV or landline phone) the fastest tier offered is 12/1. Now they may up the ante a bit with fiber, but AT&T U-Verse is 12/1.5 or 18/1.5...
I'm not denying that Buckeye is a decent company. I'm just saying that they're not lickety-split fast on internet speeds, particularly on the upload side.

| Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? they are in Toledo. 95% if not more can only get 1.5meg DSL and they aren't expanding U-Verse and the areas that will never see it aren't ever gonna get DSL or any more ports for it. Buckeye is your only choice and they offer 20megs by 1. That is posted on their site. -- www.two-pugs.com www.2pugs.etsy.com | |

| Re: What speeds/prices are offered in the FTTH trial area? Sounds like Buckeye offers the best service in their area. However 20/1 is by no means next generation, especially since it requires triple play to get. Which means that folks like me would be limited to 12/1 service at $70. In comparison my town of 10,000 in Texas can get 15/2 TWC for $50 with what is currently just as little competition. We don't get the CEO's home phone number, but there's give and take there.
It will be interesting to see what tiers BEX is offered in when FTTH rolls around. It's nice that they're going directly to FTTH rather than stopping at DOCSIS 3 on the way, but only time will tell whether their fiber tiers compare with fiber from elsewhere, though apparently anything's better than DSL.
