Re: Frivolous Lawsuit said by pnh102:AT&T should be made to pay Verizon's legal fees. This lawsuit is completely and totally without any merit. Have you seen the commercial with the elves? It's a blatant lie, designed to make people think only Verizon can deliver the internet to your wireless device. I spent the other night eating at a french restaurant, in full view of the George Washington Bridge, unable to browse the Internet because AT&T's network couldn't handle it. In certain markets, that claim is perfectly true. Fix the problems. |

 | My GF has an Iphone. I can't count the number of times she not only can't get online but can't even make a phone call.
I moved 50 company phones from AT&T last year and couldn't be happier. They never even attempted to keep our business when I called to authorize the switch. |

I've seen all of the ads. I'm also an AT&T subscriber. However, I do not have data service on any of our phones.
But I have to respectfully disagree that the "Good luck browsing the web with that one" claim is a "blatant lie." AT&T's iPhone problems are well documented facts. But to be fair to AT&T, I can't say I know anything about any network issues with AT&T's other smart phones.
But the resolution to this is clear. AT&T needs to grab some shovels and build out more 3G service. Now. -- Blagojevich / Madoff 2012! |

In certain markets, that claim is perfectly true. Fix the problems. I recently flew from North Carolina to Utah with 2 x iPhones and a Verizon Data Card. Even on layovers in larger cities like Dallas, Verizon had coverage and worked flawlessly while our iPhones sputtered along, dropping calls and pulling up webpages at a glacial speed.
I think AT&T's savior from these complaints is going to be 850MHz. -- trafficcloak.com - pptp/sstp vpn services |

 | reply to Matt Last time I was in an area covered by the "red" map but not the "blue" map, AT&T's 2G speeds were faster than Verizon's 3G speeds. Does the map account for that? |

There are many areas where EDGE on AT&T is effectively 0 kbps. I've run speed tests in some places where my DL and/or UL speed was 0.
AT&T should be spending their money on upgrades. It is really, really sad that they didn't seem to care much until people started to speak out about how poor their data services really are.
Even Google Maps is painful on EDGE at times. I don't doubt that their 3G is stellar in many places, but if you aren't in one of those places (and you probably aren't!), you are SOL.
Using AT&T logic, if you provide the most super ridiculously fast data speeds in just one city, you have "the world's most super ridiculously fast service." I'm glad Verizon struck a nerve. The truth really does hurt sometimes. -- One nation, under Zod! |

That is a very good way to expose whether your area is overloaded or not. Load up Google Maps on your iPhone w/ GPS enabled and tell it to follow you while driving down the interstate. Half the time the maps will load quite speedily, but the other half (especially on Edge) they simply never will. -- trafficcloak.com - pptp/sstp vpn services |

The point is that they provide HORRIBLE service in a large portion of the country while they advertise that they have the fastest and best 3G network. That claim is true only if you cherry-pick the few areas where they are on top of their network. -- One nation, under Zod! |

If you look at posts like his, most people who say they have good AT&T service and subpar Verizon service tend to be in Southern California or one of the few areas that have had the 850MHz spectrum turned on. -- trafficcloak.com - pptp/sstp vpn services |

I'm a former AT&T customer who migrated to Sprint. My prior use of the AT&T internet network was EDGE and it was awful compared to the 3G on Sprint. If AT&T thinks EDGE is great internet coverage, they are IMO sadly mistaken.
The maps clearly indicate 3G internet coverage, and the comments by the elves are about internet coverage. Nothing appears misleading in the commercials to me. They are about internet 3G coverage. -- "People demand freedom of speech as a compensation for the freedom of thought which they seldom use." |

| AT&T's complaint is that they feel that Verizon is telling customers that they won't have data coverage or be able to make calls in the non-blue areas. Yes the fine print says otherwise, but Verizon is playing up with the collective ignorance of the public that doesn't know the difference between GPRS, Edge, 3G or LTE. |

Commercial with the elves is legit, that has been shown to be true in court. AT&T should resolve their issues, not try to smash them down as if they don't exist. |

 | reply to footballdude I agree, even in non 3G area or 3G turned off it's still pretty fast. Vzw needs to stop trying to pretend att has less coverage.
