Sounds like a parallel to what Verizon/AT&T are doing south of the border.

Also, Telus currently has the faster network, because most of their customers aren't on it. The network will be pretty much only for smartphones/iPhones/data cards, and is idtentical to Telus's regular footprint, so things are more straightforward than a half-overlaid 3G network.

Well, not quite, Telus/Bell HSPA+ network misses almost 2 complete provinces and northwestern Ontario for any coverage, and does not allow in country GSM roaming.

The MTS/Sasktel/Dryden Mobility/TBayTel/Northern Tel/ON Tel carriers didn't upgrade (yet), and since there's no roaming on Rogers, there's no coverage in those areas.

So there are smaller GSM (non-3G) carriers in CA? Didn't know they were plentiful.
