| [General] Cannot log into e-mail account using Webmail I have multiple email addresses. I can log in to 2 of them using Webmail.earthlink.net with no problems but when I try to log into the third I get an error after several seconds: "Sorry. Login to mail server failed. Please try again.". I verified the account. This started happening today. The email address has worked for several years. Any ideas?
thanks, |

 | My idea is that there's something wrong with the servers/email system right now. Can't prove it but a couple mails sent to myself have not shown up, volume of received mail is way down: 2 in 3 hours when a couple dozen from a devel list would be more expected, and one that was received seems to have been delayed. |

They may have swapped the network paths to the Web eMail and POP3 eMail Servers. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

 | reply to loadmaster One of my earthlink addresses is not responding to pop or webmail. Support said it was a big failure as even they could not get into the account.
My company technician said that he was receiving a "down for maintenance " message
They have escalated it up the chain but those technicians will not be back until Monday. Forwarding does not work and the vacation message does not work either. |

 | reply to loadmaster Since this afternoon (Friday NOV 20) I can't check earthlink email, or there's an intermittent connection (DSL, CA). The mail page just endlessly is in loading process but never loads. Normally I'd have gotten 20 or 30 emails since the afternoon - only 2 have loaded. I get so tired of earthlink - seems this happens to varying degree too often. Last spring we lost service altogether for over a week. No explanation, extreme frustration in dealing with customer service, took forever to resolve, no refund for service not provided. And why do they have to run those ads when the email page is loading? That always slows down the loading. Earthlink is driving me nuts. |

I might have used Web eMail 10 times in 10 Years. I prefer to keep my eMail on my PC locally and that's why I have 20+ Years of saved Email available on my PC.
You might consider using a POP3 eMail client as a back up option even if Web based eMail is your preference. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

 | For me and, I expect, for others @, at least, mindspring.com, my SOP Seamonkey email client does not get mail for this, my primary account. A few trickled in overnight but many are AWOL, including what should be a notification from bugzilla. I use WebMail to look for mail that might have accidentally gone to Known Spam. There is nothing there, either, in the way of mails I should be getting and even the normal flood of actual spam has slowed down. Ergo, something is wrong with the server(s)/email system. |

 | reply to loadmaster I've been having the email issues since yesterday as well. I can send out mail fine, but am not receiving any mail. I also had a few trickle in over night, but that was it. I chatted live with a rep yesterday and they pretty much told me the same thing - it's a problem on their end and they are trying to fix it. |

 | reply to loadmaster Overnight, 11/21, my mail delivery seems to have normalized. A check this morning of sending a mail to myself@mindspring.com went right through. I checked several dozen posts on the cooker devel list online archive against what I have received and all but one is on my box with correct time stamps and that might have been deleted from my cellphone, idk. I've got some duplicates and many late deliveries for this period and no other way to verify what other message might have been lost e.g. craigslist hot date but mail service appears normal, atm. I've not had such a problem with Mindspring/Earthlink for more than 9 years, so that's not bad. |

 | reply to loadmaster The problem seems fixed for me as well...any test emails I'm sending are going right through now. I've been using Earthlink for about 8 years and I too can honestly say this is really the first small issue I've had with their service. |
|
 | reply to loadmaster Day three and still no e-mail access! |
|
 | reply to loadmaster Day 3 for me also, still no email... |
|
 | reply to loadmaster ...And a little over a week later, the problem returns. I chatted with an earthlink rep and once again they are having intermittent server issues. Before, the only issue I was having was being unable to receive email. Now not only am I having that problem, but I can't connect to earthlink through Outlook Express, nor can I login to Webmail. In 8 years of being an earthlink customer, I've never experienced a problem on this level. I think if this keeps happening, it might be time to shop for other ISPs... |

I've had no issues with Earthlinks, Mindsprings or Netcoms POP3 servers in a month. -- Whats the point of owning a supercar if you cant scare yourself stupid from time to time? |

 | pop.earthlink.net and smtpauth.earthlink.net |

|
 | reply to loadmaster The problem is intermittent at this point, and I have been able to connect through Outlook for the most part today. But all day yesterday when opening Outlook and Sending/Receiving All, Outlook would try to connect to earthlink, but couldn't get through. After every 60 seconds, I would get a message saying that the server wasn't responding, did I want to Wait or Stop. While I was having this issue with Outlook, I also couldn't log into Webmail through my browser - after a few minutes, I would just get an internal server error. However, during the brief periods yesterday when I was able to connect through Outlook, Webmail would also work.
According to the earthlink rep I talked to yesterday, they have been having intermittent server problems for a few weeks and are still trying to fix the problem. I don't know if that means the issue is just in my area or what... |
