Re: How is this PSU?

well it wont be running what's listed in my profile here but a C2D system but I still think it should still be enough now.

And I guess the Y cable would work.. just not fond of them because some of them are really cheap and tend to get loose inside.

Yes, well, it's less of a problem than using a 20-pin power cable instead of 24-pin, because we're talking about less current through the "Y" cables. That doesn't matter, so it's really an aesthetic decision whether you want a "clean look" or not. Do they really get loose? Never experienced that.

yeah they do I had one connected to a SATA dvd writer and I'd notice at times I had no power to the drive or if the tray would slide close that was enough to disconnect the power the Y- cable it was odd never seen it happen myself.. I solved it by closing the pins on the Y-cable side so they would grip a bit better.

Well, if you can spend a little more, return that thing and get a Corsair PSU. I bought a 400 watter that has more SATA connectors than I need: six. Or, use a tie-wrap to keep two power connectors together.

edit: a thin tie-wrap...

yeah but I have a radeon 4870 which says at least a 500W should be used I just checked newegg and a 550W Corsair is around $79 and some change. I think when I add 2 more drives I might buy a new PSU

You're set then.

BTW "NE-KON" is a Japanese expression
"Ni-kon" is American English way of saying it.
