Re: What is the best................. I am not mele20 so can't say the best hands down...but, in my working experiances with spyware doctor with antivirus, it works as expected, some false positives, fast scan, updates frequently, has great response from pctools team and a great forums for help. They listen to users when a suggestion is added to the suggestion forum and also help with error reports and get a fix out if needed. Same holds true for avast!, since I rarley open the ugly gui, I can care less about it. I have never dealt with avast! team or there forums if there is one. Never had an issue on vista or win 7. False positives are likley with every scanner....no more or less with avast imo.
If you asked in your op what areas concerns you most, we'd be better to help you decide. You got resposnes just as simple as your question, can't blame anyone really.
There is no best, but mele20's and your opinion's seem to prove me wrong. -- Live Free or Die! www.sidux.com www.chronixradio.com

There is a lot of truth in that statement! I have a family member who calls me often about security issues and my reply to him is "Pappie, step away from the keyboard" |

There is no best A/V or "pure" virus scanner as so eloquently worded. It's all subjective, it's all a matter of user opinion. |

Just in recent years the new infections coming out by the hour has so far out-paced what the AV vendors can begin to keep up with that an AV by itself just no longer provides even near enough security. Going Virtual is much easier, safer, cheaper in the over all long run. Even if a User just uses a program such as microsoft Solid State which is free they would be better off than using simply an AV. An since no AV vendor actually can keep up with the hugh amount of new infections going Virtual may well be the only solution. Everything else is simply hype to see products. An as for educating the computer User that just wont happen. For years people around the globe have attempted to educate computer Users an allhave failed in that attempt. |

| You should *never* run more than one antivirus product that provides real time protection as they will conflict, causing performance issues, system instability, and may even cause protection to be compromised. MSE should not be installed on a system that includes any other antivirus program. -- Stephen Boots MVP-Windows Live -- siljaline
