There is no 100% kill virus scanner. Which means your question ask for a subjective answer.
The poll provides a widely sampled, subjective answer.
Therefore, the poll IS the best response.
I agree...it seems these threads come up way too often. And the replies are ALWAYS the same: Avast for me! Avira here! Nod32 is the best! Another for Avast! ........and on and on and on and on.
