The fact that the cleric pointed him in one direction over another doesn't really matter. This jackass was going to do something, because he was too chicken shit to earn his pay. He wasn't trying to make a political statement, or strike fear into the country. His actions were about him.
I'm not suggesting he's a good guy, or even any less of a bad guy. But claiming a lone gunman is a terrorist lessens the inpact of the word.
