Re: Climate Change Scandal Erupts After Email Hack. said by nwrickert:Climate change sceptics who have studied the emails allege they provide "smoking gun" evidence that some of the climatologists colluded in manipulating data to support the widely held view that climate change is real, and is being largely caused by the actions of mankind. This thread has been quiet, and the issue isn't getting much mention on the news media either. So maybe they didn't find a "smoking gun" after all. No, more like they are all in it together and are keeping it hush for a reason. |

We know it is true. I mean since a few people stretch the truth that proves it. It's all a giant hoax, a joke, and we're all just fine. Just keep on keeping on. Uh huh. No, climate change is NOT a hoax. The climate will continue to change as it always has. It is the whackos that absolutely state that we are the cause of global warming and then said that we need to STOP climate change, when the global warming phrase was losing traction, that are the hoax. |

So many unquestioning gullible people that would rather believe that under-paid scientists are somehow able to construct an elaborate hoax (for what purpose?). Follow the money, people. Industrial groups pay for studies that introduce the slightest bit of doubt into the conversation, and have much more of a financial interest in sowing doubt and confusion than actually getting at the truth. The science is there, whther you want to believe it or not. Check out realclimate.org for a reasoned and rational discussion on the hacked e-mails, which in no way show collusion by scientisst but rather honest and open conversation that they thought was private. A new study from the University of Bristol suggests that terrestrial ecosystems and the oceans have a much greater capacity to absorb CO2 than had been previously expected.
The research, which is based on measurements and statistical data, not complex climate models, show that the balance between the airborne and the absorbed fraction of carbon dioxide has stayed approximately constant since 1850, despite emissions of carbon dioxide having risen from about 2 billion tons a year in 1850 to 35 billion tons a year now, according to the University of Bristol
.
Another result of the study is that emissions from deforestation might have been overestimated by between 18 and 75 per cent.

TOTAL collusion between ( so called ) scientists, and NOT taken out of context at all.
The evidence is in the emails and notes with the software code, which PROVE they were leaving out incriminating data which disproves their seriously flawed theory, and also lying to everyone who tried to challenge them, and making sure those people got sacked and/or had their funding stopped.

1 edit | reply to iam x Getting to the security and privacy aspects, I will be interested to see how much influence this data has on the rest of the data, models and studies, and what results they obtain once this validity issue has been resolved and the data is handled appropriately.
Personally, I prefer NCAR and UCAR as sources, since they have the most widespread sources and long standing experience. Results from Tree huggers international that we'll all roast in thirty years carries no more weigh than the methane producer's institute spreading rainbows and garden gnomes. UCAR's and NCAR's research paints a much more complex picture than the simplistic "global warming/cooling" political and commercial ranters with ideological axes to grind. -- The greatest dangers to liberty lurk in insidious encroachment by men of zeal, well-meaning but without understanding. -- Justice Louis D. | If you have access to any scientific journals do a back search related to the topic including the yamal cores, and temperature graphing out of CRU. Those are the good ones right now, followed by the hockey stick graphs and their coring samples. Those have been pulled already because abuse in the peer review process and are investigation. There's hundreds on top of hundreds of studies, and reports, and other datasets and simulations, and so on that used existing bad data. And linking, through relinking, on top of secondary studies using other data sets. Yeah this is a freaking mess.
And this is what happens when someone turns around and screws with the process.
As for anything else? All of it has to be replotted, recalculated, fixed, and so on. It has to be put back through the channels of the theory being tested by others. Then it all has to be peer reviewed again to make sure that the data is valid. The reality is anyone connected to the data, or have used that data will be suspicious of existing data now. And people will be highly sceptical of any data sets which don't adhere to the proper review process. Which should have happened in the first place And, so on and so forth. |

Of course there's always been climate change, and on the geological scale it's takes a long time. The evidence now is that man's effects are accelerating the process to a pace that ecosystems can't cope with.

BB1984 join:2006-05-31 Australia | reply to JB said by JB:Go Go Conspiracy theories. If you mean "human-made global warming", then you are totally correct- it is a most heinous conspiracy. However if you suggest that these counter-views (against Statesman Salesman Gore et al) are the conspiracy theory, then at least call it what it is: conspiracy fact.
There is simply too much information out there now debunking "global warming/climate change" and its advocates. As Lord Monckton says (paraphrased), "be critical of all you see and hear, as only that way can you get to a greater truth".
I'll venture that most pro-climate change supporters know nothing more about the topic than having watched "An Inconvenient Truth" and all they have been fed via the media. So stop standing on a pedestal, when the amount of credible knowledge you harbour on "global warming/climate change" is laughable by any critical evaluation. |
