Re: Climate Change Scandal Erupts After Email Hack. ^ QFT. So many unquestioning gullible people out there... but conversely, nice to see more than just a few thinking people as well, questioning information based on evidence rather than hype. Congrats to the hackers - more power to them in doing their part to expose this most dangerous fraud.
I would love to see Gore or any of these megalomaniacal charlatans go to prison for this farce - it would be a beautiful day... (I know I likely won't, but one can dare to dream ). |

 | There seems to be some question as to whether this was the work of an anonymous hacker, or perhaps instead by an insider. Based on the quantity and scope of the material, the insider/whistle-blower theory is beginning to look more plausible. Perhaps a disgruntled employee (or former employee) decided that there was just too much deception and stonewalling going on to keep it all under cover.

 | Here is another theory about how the files were accessed that may be of interest to security-oriented readers.
"The CRUtape Letters®, an Alternate Explanation" presents a 3rd possibility other than hacker or insider:

 | In an attempt to bring this thread back to the topic of security issues, I'd like to link to this article, More on the "RC Hack":

It seems that some of the leaked emails contained user names and passwords. This is very dumb practice for several obvious reasons. One of the theories is that a leaked username/password combination allowed access to the block of embarrassing emails.
If you are interested in searching through the emails without going through the effort of reading them all, go to
»www.eastangliaemails.com/
and search on keywords like "password". There you will see username/password combinations in plaintext in some of the emails. Not only that, but there is one where the username is an individual's first name, and the password is his last name!
Not particularly bright fellows, these climate scientists. -- "I reject your reality and substitute my own." |

So many unquestioning gullible people that would rather believe that under-paid scientists are somehow able to construct an elaborate hoax (for what purpose?). Follow the money, people. Industrial groups pay for studies that introduce the slightest bit of doubt into the conversation, and have much more of a financial interest in sowing doubt and confusion than actually getting at the truth. The science is there, whther you want to believe it or not. Check out realclimate.org for a reasoned and rational discussion on the hacked e-mails, which in no way show collusion by scientisst but rather honest and open conversation that they thought was private. How many of us would like some of our e-mails to become public and taken out of context? |
