Don't know how Major it is since I've not lost a single mail

from the Earthlink POP3 servers, nor have any been late and even the spam count is the same as last week.

Most of the complaints were people not being able to reach Web Mail servers (»webmail.earthlink.net/ ) as all the POP3 servers (there are 8 on a round robin setup) worked fine for me the entire time including the last 3 days.

Same here. I didn't even know there was an issue until I came here and saw the front page news. My mailwasher program never chirpped an issue with pulling down my email.

Same here- for all of ELNKs many issues especially billing/customer service /tech support , email has been quite solid for me going on 10+ years with them but alas ELNKs days are number as my ISP because they continue to charge me for their highest tier DSL yet can barely support 1.5/384. They say that 1.2/308 is a best effort on a 8/0 768 provisioned line.

Doc....last month it was the POP folks like you and me that had 4 weeks of email hell. I guess it is only just that the webmail folks should have a few days of discomfort. I had no problems with sending or receiving from my ancient mindspring legacy account.

The reason you are unaware of it is because incoming messages are being dropped before they're even received. (see above re: "zombie/spam") If they don't put it anywhere in your mailbox(es), then you won't know it ever existed.

I don't send mail to earthlink/mindspring users very often, but the last one I sent (from gmail) was refused. Sent it again -- seconds later, and it was accepted just fine.

I posted my spam volume was the same as it was last week and I also have a 15+ email subscriptions of which none were dropped or lost. The subscriptions/list servs come all through the week because I signed up to stagger them so that I didn't get all of them to read on one day in the week and then have nothing for another week. I ever sent test emails using my Google email Account to all my EL email Accounts and the test emails were received by all 8 accounts within minutes. Don't know why you saw a Gmail failure, but I just retested with no issue as I did over the last 3 days.

Don't know why you think that I have spam controls even enabled on my EL Accounts as I don't. Both spam and scanning is disabled on all 8 of my Earthlink email Accounts.

I have 2 earthlink accounts, and with no explanation at all, in one of them I lost ALL of my emails from over 5 years of online webmail with Earthlink (okay so from this discussion it appears i am super stupid for having used an isp email account). Then today, I was told (by Chat) that Earthlink can not recover any of the emails. The other account, on the other hand, has had no problems whatsoever.

You should always back up your emails on to your PC just like any files that you want to keep.

I lost a few incoming emails, but who cares. What hell is that compared to the fact that I lost ALL of my INBOX and FOLDERS. Earthlink said for a week to be "assured" that they would recover all the files. Then they said Friday that they will not be able to recover them. I did not have a backup... and neither did they. OH!

I looked and I don't see where EL says they will secure and back up your emails when using web mail. That is your responsibility to have a back up.
