GE, a major employer here, makes large and small motors, light bulbs, aircraft engines and controls, power transmission equipment, medical equipment for hospitals (X Ray, MRI, CAT scan, etc), deisel locomotives, and much more. Their role as a defense contractor is small compared to everything else they do.

While Comcast may be a huge company too, they are focused on providing entertainment and connectivity directly to end users, just like Time-Warner. Just like Liberty/Direct TV. etc.
There is nothing wrong with any of this that cannot be addressed by adding specific conditions to approval of the sale. |
