Re: [Cable] Slower speed then advertised

Answer from netgear

Thank you for choosing NETGEAR. My name is Arthur and I will be your support engineer.

The speed issue you're experiencing is due a hardware limitation of the device. The device has a max WAN to LAN throughput of 11.5Mbps, however after configuration overhead you'll see an average of 6-8Mbps, and if you have any firewall rules, or blocked sites configured you'll see even slower speeds.Unfortunately the only resolution is to purchase a more up to date device such as the FVS338.

Thank you again for choosing NETGEAR. Have a great day!

Sincerely,
Arthur

LOL, at least the guy is honest. Run, don't walk away from Netgear.

I am partial to Linksys, but get what suits your needs.

That’s about as good as it gets. It isn’t going to get much better than that. Put a fork in it you’re done.
