 | reply to Z80A Right and these phones cost more than laptop computers to make don't they?
The ONLY thing subsidizing does it keeps the cost up for the phone maker. I guarantee without question if mobile providers stop subsidizing the phones, then the phones will still come down to the same price points they are at now with subsidizing.
The ONLY thing an EFT does is attempt to lock in a customer. |

3 edits | Not with AT&T it doesn't and when I was with VZW it certainly didn't. My edge iPhone went month to month for a year (until I upgraded to a 3G-S). Same with my laptop connect card. I'm no longer under contract and can walk away or upgrade to a newer laptop connect card.
When the contract expires you are month to month unless you want a new discounted or free handset, at which time you enter into a new contract to get the subsidized price. In the nearly 2 decades I've had phones with LA Cellular, Sprint, Cingular/ATT, Nextel and VZW, I've NEVER had a contract renew without consideration like a new discounted handset.
There may be an exception to this, but I have NEVER seen it with any of these carriers.
Who is the carrier who automatically renews a contract without any consideration (like a new phone upgrade)? Being an AT&T customer who is month-month after a contract I know AT&T doesn't. Looking at VZW's current agreement they don't either »www.verizonwireless.com:80/b2c/g···ment.jsp |
