Hookup DSL Modem Wireless Router

I received our DSL modem today and we are scheduled to be activated with CenturyLink tomorrow (model EQ-660R ADSL). Currently, I have our HughesNet satellite modem hooked directly into the WAN port on my Apple Time Capsule, which is also an Airport Extreme Wireless router.

The instructions have you hook the modem directly into your PC. Will I be able to just plug it in to my wireless router same as I do the satellite modem?

Thanks,

Rick

Yes, you will be able to use your router.

If your router is capable, you can set the modem up for bridge mode and then allow the router to do the PPPoE.

Thanks. Looks like the router is PPP0E capable. Is there an advantage to running the modem in bridge mode and doing PPPoE in my router?

Thanks again,

Rick

There's one less layer of NAT but likely it will make no discernible difference.

I think my router is a bit speedier on (re)connecting than the modem but, other than that, it makes no difference.
