Set up your own DNS

I set my own DNS server on my network to handle DNS requests. Don't have any issues with redirects.

High speed is dangerous. Too many MP3s, not enough time.

Agreed. Or use clean DNS servers. If your ISP doesn't have 'em then 4.2.2.x (1-6) work great.

SPeaking of DNS redirection, I think DNS redirection should be a value-added service, with the customer getting the money when it's on. Turn on "domain helper" and get $3 per month back on your bill...everyone wins!

When I type in www.microsoft.com I get redirected to www.apple.com. Is that what this is all about?

Great idea, but the ISP will likely pocket the money AND raise you bill instead. 8-)

That would be a virus or Trojan causing a problem!

Or your ISP turns it on for everyone and just pockets the full $5 per month They win and to them that's the only entity that matters.

I was talking about what *should* happen rather than what will/is happening

Not if customers have another option. I personally find Comcast's clean DNS servers to be quite nice.
