1. You need TV service to use it (cash cow... this should be able to REPLACE overpriced TV service) 2. CAPs with pricey overage charges. Watching a few shows would be more expensive than ordering PPV. -- Canada = Hollywood North |

 | someone in either the teksavvy or Cogeco forum mentioned you don't need a tv subscription. you can be signed up with services such as Fido (mobile phone) and get the online equivalent of basic cable. |

| i dont think it will be anything like basic cable. granted some of the same shows on it will be the same. the name on demand usually implies not live. the service will no doubt be ad filled. i question the same thing; how does rogers have the capacity for it if they cant handle p2p, which uses less bandwidth. however, putting subscription services on demand online like tmn/hbo could be interesting, one could then share subscriptions. no doubt the current private "pirating" of tv will continue. in most cases it offers an easier, cheaper, faster, higher quality version, with no ads. |

You just need ANY Rogers service (including Fido) to use it, but selection is limited to programming available FTA and (supposedly) web-exclusive content.
A TV subscription is only required if you want to watch content that is coming from subscription/premium channels such as Superchannel and Sportsnet, and your TV package must include those channels to view them through the Rogers video portal. |

 | reply to en102 Hi en102, this is Mary with Rogers. I was reading through the forum and wanted to clarify on your point above. Rogers On Demand Online is free to all Rogers customers - Cable, TV, Hi-Speed Internet, Rogers Home Phone and Rogers Wireless - and it can be streamed from anywhere in Canada for customers subscribing to any ISP. |
