someone in either the teksavvy or Cogeco forum mentioned you don't need a tv subscription. you can be signed up with services such as Fido (mobile phone) and get the online equivalent of basic cable.

i dont think it will be anything like basic cable.
granted some of the same shows on it will be the same.
the name on demand usually implies not live.
the service will no doubt be ad filled.
i question the same thing; how does rogers have the capacity for it if they cant handle p2p, which uses less bandwidth.
however, putting subscription services on demand online like tmn/hbo could be interesting, one could then share subscriptions.
no doubt the current private "pirating" of tv will continue.
in most cases it offers an easier, cheaper, faster, higher quality version, with no ads.
