While torrents are free and will live on, not everyone knows about them so using them might not be an option for everyone. So you are seriously telling me you know people that use the internet on a daily basis and have NEVER heard of torrents?

People who get torrents must also get alot of spam and viruses. Torrents push you off the internet by evil chinese hackers.

said by BF69:So you are seriously telling me you know people that use the internet on a daily basis and have NEVER heard of torrents? Yes, many people I know use the internet daily for email, web browsing, Facebook, etc. and would never know what a torrent is, what usenet was and if IRC ever existed.
| | | | | Re: Maybe it will die, but.. Dude, IRC and Usenet exist just as much as they used to, specially in the case of usenet. Just thought I"d point that out since you said "usenet WAS" | |

Just thought I"d point that out since you said "usenet WAS" I made that point because USENET WAS a part of many ISPs until recently. I had one friend who cursed at me because he was told about USENET by me and another friend and spent the next 10 hours pulling stuff off of it (he didn't go to bed until 2am.)
As for IRC, the same thing. Most of us in the know, have used and dealt with it but to the average Joe Email, he has no clue it evens exists much less how to use it.

Yup...I'd say 8 out of 10 uses don't know what I'm talking about when I explain my TOS to them. Its the over 30 crowd. Its pretty easy to figure out they really, really don't know what I'm talking about.
| | | | I have to agree with BF69 on most of what he says about using Torrents to get shows. However, I know many people who have zero clue what a torrent is or how to find them.
The simple solution for many get a nice TV tuner card for your PC and OTA antenna. Then turn your PC into a DVR. This can be done very cheaply and probably get a better resolution than you find Torrents. Hell is you have basic cable you get pull the signal form there and get Clear QAM HD channels as well.
