Strange but True: Spelunker to be buried where he died

The guy who died stuck in a hole in a cave, after ALMOST being rescued, will be buried upside down where he was stuck. They aren't going to get his body out; just seal the cave with him in it.

I do not suffer from claustrophobia but just reading the size of the space he was crawling in made me short of breath.

That space was really small and probably should have been sealed off a long time ago.

Sad way to end and my condolences go out to his wife and extended family.

My guess is they'll wait 3-4 years for his body to decompose, remove the remains and reopen the cave.

That's what they do in other countries. They bury someone, then transfer the bones to a sarcophagus. Cuba does this because of the shortage of burial grounds. Israel did it back around the time of Christ. (Recent bone boxes discovered with inscriptions confirming Biblical accounts.).

I don't see them sealing the cave indefinitely. The family will want a proper burial. Cave enthusiasts will want the cave reopened (even if it's a generation from now).

I can't quite get this, seems like they could get him out.

I'm not a caver, but it seems a shame to close the cave permanently to all spelunkers because of an accident.

That would like one person drowns so they drain a lake and turn it into a landfill or something. :/
