Re: Secret Service falls down on the job I don't think they should be punished. Maybe given a stern talking to, but not punished. However clearly security protocol needs to be upgraded.
This is movie type stuff. You see the likes of James Bond, etc swaggering around in formal parties and stuff because they bluffed their way in.
... but it's also possible if a random couple could pull this off, it could have been someone with malicious intent. I doubt they'd of slipped in with guns etc on them, but what if they had some toxic poison or biological agent? It's surprising this breach occurred. -- "Fascism should more properly be called corporatism because it is the merger of state and corporate power." -- Benito Mussolini

What did happen wasn't the end of the world. Nothing "bad" happened, except two nutjobs had the balls to crash the best party. With that said, it could have been much worse.
It's extremely surprising that this breach occurred. If all it takes is a little bit of confidence and swagger, along with a SS mistake to get into a White House function, something needs to be changed.
Who's going to be the next one to try something like this? Someone else who wants 15 mins of fame. -- "Honesty may be the best policy, but it's important to remember that apparently, by elimination, dishonesty is the second-best policy." - George Carlin | |
