Re: Radeon HD 3850 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 AGP 4X/8X

What about the HOTFIX as found here:

I heard that AMD didn't OFFICIALLY support the card and you need to go to the manufacturer.

If you'd click on the link you posted, you'll find that there's nothing selected showing in the tables.

Yes, ATi doesn't officialy support any AGP cards beyond the X1k series. And those have been legacy'd out.

But so far, it seems to answer the "why the *expletive* can I still buy an AGP card then?", they have released hotfix drivers (not WHQL'd, but only because of that it seems) that will install the current driver on those cards based on supported GPU's in AGP.

So should I get drivers from Sapphire or ATI then?

ATi does have current level hotfix drivers... but it is a pain to look for them. I tried using both Microsoft's Bing search and Google before I was able to find a link to a (very well hidden) page on ATi's site that featured the hotfix version.

With Catalyst 9.11 Why does Sapphire show 50.66MB while ATI shows 42.4MB?
