Re: [Wired] Becoming Pingable Disabling the SPI firewall is a bit harsh. A bit like deliberately throwing out the baby with the bath water.
All that should be required is to uncheck "Filter Anonymous Internet Requests" as shown and described in the two screen capture images below.
I don't have access to a Linksys WRT320N to test it, but that is all that is required with my RV082, and I have also only done that on several other Linksys routers to enable ping from the WAN interface.

EDIT: I just notice that you said that your ISP is SBC. The "modems" issued by AT&T/SBC are usually actually modem/router combination devices, and the default mode is for the "modem" to do the PPPoE auhentication, and that means that the built-in router is enabled. I can't tell you where to look to enable WAN pinging on your "modem" since I have no idea what model/brand you have. One thing you can do however is to put the "modem" into simple bridge mode instead of router mode, and that will disable the firewall/router functions of the "modem". You can go to the appropriate DSLR »AT&T forum to view FAQs that will help you with configuring the AT&T/SBC "modem". If you do put the AT&T/SBC "modem" into bridge mode, you will need to do the PPPoE authentication with your WRT320N. -- History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. -- Dwight D.
