Download speed is very slowI have DSL and am supposed to have 1.5M/256k. The last 3 speed tests I did show about 250-300k download. I have no idea why it is so slow. Any ideas? I did a tweak test, but it didn't help - it even said my service was good? |

You need to give us more info than that. Who is your service provider? What equipment do you have? |

Transceiver Revision: 5.2.2.0 Vendor ID Code: 4 Line Mode: ADSL2+ Mode Data Path: Interleaved Transceiver Information Downstream Path Upstream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 602 319 Margin (dB) 31.0 4.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 29.5 12.5 Transmit Power (dBm) 17.1 11.9
I do want to add that I am NOT using this modem wirelessly. I am using it with ethernet. |

said by niko1:DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 602 319 I can tell you that your modem is not even synched at the speed you've purchased. Somebody else will have to take a look and tell you whether your other numbers will make higher speeds possible. Can you grab a set of transceiver stats with the modem plugged directly into your outside service box? Thanks! |

Your line is capable of higher speeds. If you could power cycle the modem and grab the stats as soon as your able to. Double check and make sure you have filters on every device connected to your phone line, and that they are connected to the correct port. Satellite, alarm, garage/shed phones, etc. |

I powered down and it shows this
Transceiver Revision: 5.2.2.0 Vendor ID Code: 4 Line Mode: ADSL2+ Mode Data Path: Interleaved Transceiver Information Downstream Path Upstream Path DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 602 319 Margin (dB) 31.0 4.0 Line Attenuation (dB) 28.5 12.5 Transmit Power (dBm) 17.1 11.9
I am not a pc guru by any means - so I am not sure how I would take this outside to link to the outside box. I can take the modem - but then what? I have a desktop. |

Use a long phone line extension from your outside box to modem |

Stats are fine, I say the account is not setup properly for the 1.5, looks more like a 512 sync rate. |

Since the numbers look good, niko1 should put a call in to CLink and have somebody throw the proper switch. |

Yes, it looks provisioned wrong, however, margin for upload isn't correct either. I would call in to make sure they have you on the plan you think you're supposed to be on. That upload margin maybe a fluke, but it should be reading up in the 20's or 30 most likely. |

The Westells are notorious for this on the upload side, I typically ignore that number and go with the download reading for margin. But in most cases I've seen like this, the low upload rate will kill the download speed, despite having a good d/l margin. If either the upload or download is saturated (or in a low snr case, appears saturated), it will affect both send/receive transmissions. I'm thinking it does appear that the provisioning is set wrong for the 1.5 package though, as mentioned. |
