Michigan winters are brutal and Consumers Energy charges extra for installing underground power conduit unless you dig it yourself. We did during the fall and sunk our own pipe, then they came in and connected in January.
I could certainly understand a small, extra charge for a February install or a delay if the weather's awful. I wouldn't want a cable guy on the roof or climbing a ladder in freezing rain. He's got a family, too. | |

When we have had to dig up the frost it just completely destroyed the yard or ditch until after the spring thaw. But 6" frost would not be too tough to deal with I guess. | |

| | | Re: Not one of you mentioned WINTER!! Ditch Witch may work in VA - but it will not leave the homeowner happy tearing up the yard and destroying the pretty pristine snow scene. But if that law was passed where I live, a Ditch Witch (we have two) wouldn't cut it in January or February for sure. We have to rent a Caterpillar or Komatsu; then hope to get it running sub zero temps. That is why a simple drop waits until spring as long as it is not a hazard. | |
