Re: This is garbage

The fact that the US govt is doing the RIAA/MPAA's bidding sickens me. These are our elected officials and they are bowing down to the greedy hoards in Hollywood and stripping us citizens of our rights.
No. They are making sure a major US industry and a major exporter are not being ripped off around the world by stealing our product without paying for it.

Yes they are making sure my privacy rights are stripped from me with this US style of oppression. Also criminalizing me for Breaking DRM on my movies so I can store them on my hard drive.

Also the fear of someone stealing my IP and mac address and getting me kicked off the net. With no recourse as to get it back. I love being guilty without the ability to prove my innocents.

TK I hope since you support this that you are one of the first that gets framed. Actually I dont know if you support it or not, I am making an assumption that you do with the mere validation of your words.

I wonder how much it would cost me if I were investigated. almost 400 DRMs broken.

Not really TKJunkMail.
All that's really going on here is a control grab. A mildly skilled hacker will work around this easily. This will only catch the "fringe" users who are unskilled at networking.

What really happened here is that we just gave away our internet control to two of the most evil and limiting organizations in America.

Enjoy your Kool-aid.

If the RIAA and MPAA are so hurt by all this purported piracy, then perhaps they ought to do what all other businesses do when faced with threats: adapt.

Businesses that were tired of being shoplifting victims installed video cameras to watch their stores. Businesses that were tired of having goods stolen at night installed burglar alarms. Businesses that were tired of having employees steal their inventory started conducting background investigations of potential employees. Adaptation is nothing new. Unfortunately it is a new concept to our entertainment industry.

I guess it's easier for the RIAA and MPAA to sit back and continue to whine about alleged losses they "suffer" from people who "steal" their music without providing a shred of evidence about the extent of said losses. I guess it's easier for them to pretend that they're victims, act hurt, and then go out to their expensive dinners and home to their million dollar mansions than it is for them to face reality.

Somehow I have a very, very hard time feeling even the slightest bit of empathy for organizations like the MPAA and RIAA that add nary a bit of value to anything in the world.

They are adapting - they are getting international agreements in place to stop people from stealing their product. Just like the burglar alarm in YOUR example.

There is a thing called privacy tk. That store is not allowed to put a camera or alarm in my house.

A burglar alarm is a passive device that does not invade anyone's privacy.

Maybe the RIAA and MPAA are adapting... after all, the Borg were capable of adapting when they attacked and destroyed civilizations in Star Trek, weren't they? The RIAA's and MPAA's goals are nothing short of the same thing.

It's too bad we don't have politicians with the cajones to put the RIAA and MPAA in their place-- the junk heap. Instead they just continue to be bought and paid for mouthpieces that pass the entertainment industry's agenda at the expense of the American public.

i don't know, but it seems like the all actors are doing pretty damn well in their mansions if you ask me. so they get no sympathy from me when someone pirates a bit (or all for that matter) of their work.

Hollywood (and everybody involved, from the key grips to Aston Kucher) is doing just fine. If Hollywood (or whoever else) wants to argue that piracy is destroying all revenue, they need to come up with a better argument...

For every actor getting rich off a movie, there are 1000's of people who just make a living. And it is these who are hurt by movie thieves.

Copyright infringement is not the same as theft. You know this. It`s been explained to you many times. The fact that you refuse to acknowlegdge this fact only belies your own irrationality.

To your first point. They are adapting. You just don't like how they are doing it.

Who cares what you think? If they want to charge $1000 for a movie, let them. You don't have to buy it. As for Netflix... not sure who "they" is. They are doing fine. The have a simple business model in where they license mostly cheaper old back catalog titles. Some of the old movies are actually pretty good. Only cost a couple of bucks to watch.
