@rsmrichter.com

seems good to me - it's free!

I am a student that has only Rogers wireless, but this service allows me to use this over any free wi fi connection at a campus cafe/pub or any external wi-fi hotspot for that matter.. and i can use it on my parents Bell DSL line too it seems. i don't see the big issue - Rogers isn't forcing me to pay a dime and I can watch shows instead of downloading them and getting a virus on my computer.

Rogers (or any monopoly Telco) won't do anything which COSTS them more money than they make. They're counting on you going over your overages if your with Rogers Internet. You can't even join if you don't have any services with them, even though all of their shows are with Bell/Starchoice anyway. They're not offering this service out of the goodness of their hearts..."goodness" in business went out a long time ago.

no. it IS free even if i am NOT with Rogers Cable. Go read the actual press release. I have already been using it last night (watched Saw), and I don't have Rogers Cable.

i see this as a tactic for them to retain me as a wireless customer as well. if i was a bell-only wireless customer, i would not be able to use this service.

Please re-read the press release and get the proper information before bashing me. I am a Rogers Wireless customer and I have used the service fine so far. No problems on my end.

Wasn't bashing you in anyway. Merely pointing out the shortcomings of this idea. This the big problem with Canadian distributors, they have absolute control over everything coming into and out of your house. We can find some small ways around it, but in the end, we still get screwed by high pricing and ridiculous caps designed to keep you from downloading content.
