Re: [xbox] Want to change my name. said by Rivalman:I think the whole point of the charge is that they don't want poeple changing their names all the time, hence the charge. It's a ripoff, plain and simple. Charging $10 to change your gamertag is as big a ripoff as paying $150 for a 120gb hard drive you can purchase for $100 less at any retail outfit. It cost them nothing to change the gamertag, it's an automated process (no human labor is involved).
It's just another way to make money. I've had the same tag since XBL launched, I ain't changing it for nobody. |

Change your name and keep going.
As for the gamertag, I have kept the same one also and am close to being a Tier 7. -- "So, Lone Starr, now you see that evil will always triumph because good is dumb."

 | Is that number on the top of your gamertag not just the number of years you've had that account?
I think they just leave an out for you if you created your account without the intent on taking it online. Let's say you created a silver account first, so you just picked a name like "Joe12345" and now that you want to upgrade to a gold membership you start thinking... that name sucks! Or like you say, bad feedback, new name. However, I think if you change your name everything else about your account stays.. including feedback? No? I'm not too sure on this one. However, a buddy of mine had a "questionable" name and Xbox forced him to change it after about a year of using it. I think enough people complained about his name. And when he changed it everything was still there, like his "this many people preffered you, and this many people did not like you" areas.
Who knows? |

1 edit | reply to Rivalman Everything be the name stays the same, however but sure to send out a head ups to the people on the friends list, they're quick to delete names they don't recognize.
@ ptrowski I didn't know the 360 had support for WoW -- One time a person asked where the F button was on their keyboard. I told them they would find it next to the U button. |

Pick a name and stick w/ it
If you need to change, pay a bit...nothing wrong with that |
