Re: False positive in Avast! or is it real? The No Action button in mine did not stop all further action on the file. If I tried to use that software that was flagged, I still got a warning pop up and had to do the same thing all over again. For me, it simply passes by the current warning in my case. |

 | reply to mers2 The 'NO ACTION' button on my Avast 4.8 stops all further action on the file. 150 % sure. If you don't take my word on it, ask at the Avast forums.
You seem to need a repair install of Avast...
As Mele has pointed out Avast 5 beta does the same by now.
This is a fact.  |

Yes , but what you describe here is not an ignore which will NOT give you the same warning if you try to use the flagged warning again.
It's a question of definition, but my def of Ignore is like Aviras definition. Avast 4/5 does not have this 'IGNORE' which Mele and many other advanced users would like to have.
Everything's clear; I suppose... |

 mers2Premium,MVM join:2004-03-20 USA kudos:8 | reply to Avastlover Avast 4 has the No Action button. It appears for some of us it does what it is supposed to do - stops the current action and the warning, but if we try to use the same software a bit later it warns again. I'm interpretting Mele's post to say the "Take no action" option is missing from the beta 5.3 version. |

Yes, that is as it should do.
But many advanced users want a choice 'IGNORE' that lets you go back to the file WITHOUT any action or message. Useful, of course, if you know for sure this is a FP, OR you want to investigate the file. (of course not opening it without being 100 % sure.) This is Aviras def of 'IGNORE', and what Mele wants to have as an option. |

Mele's post(s) is/are confusing as she keeps using the word "ignore" which has NEVER been an option in Avast, it has always been "No Action". I don't know which button she thinks is now missing from the beta version but it can't be "ignore" as that has never been an option. -- You can chain my body to the earth, but still my spirit flies!

 | reply to mers2 @mers2:
Because not being a member anymore, my posts are delayed as you can see.
I think we agree on Avasts behaviour and all is as it should.
@LaLuna:
Avast never had an 'ignore' button, but some people wish it had. You and mers2 are not among those people. In one of my 'delayed' posts I explained more. Mele is one of those people, but will soon enough reexplain it if she wishes.
Avastlover has finished his session. Bye. |
