Only one subpoena necessary.

How convenient now that Google will have all of your personal activities in one place:

Searches - Google Search Engine

Phone Calls - Google Voice

DNS look ups - Google DNS

Any government agency that wants to snoop on your activities has to go to only one place - Google

RIP Privacy

Umm, they could just tap your ISP line and watch all of your packet traffic to ANYWHERE.

True, but this way, the Government doesn't have to identify beforehand: they can more easily discover that something is up and in the interest of "national security," they can find out who you are...

You're forgetting the whole telco immunity thing and the uproar over AT&T's funneling all traffic through listening posts? Simply put, "been there; done that".

This is true, but if Google ever becomes evil and rolls over like Yahoo! (China) or AT&T (USA), then it will be game over for Google.

I predict they will not, at least in the medium term. As a corollary, I expect congressional witch hunts to break out at any time, targeting Google.

Don't bring up facts.

Ever becomes evil? I think the days of Google your friendly search engine who does no harm is long gone. It's a big business just like Yahoo or ATT.

Good point Mr Matt - it's about data-mining more than redirection ads.

@eugenegill: I think you've missed something with "if Google ever becomes evil and rolls over like Yahoo! (China) or AT&T (USA)" -

- Is datamining your online activity really that much less evil than spying for governments?

- How many little invasions does it take before a company "becomes evil"?

- If governments ask for DNS data for an IP address, and Google has it, they will get it.

Privacy, in general, is starting to disappear. People are willingly listing all to most of their personal information on the internet anyways (Facebook.)

People need to wise up and be a little more discrete on the internet.

Maybe focus on the issue at hand rather than people's typos?

Never pass up the opportunity for a bad pun, I always say.

Surely you don't need it explained to you.

Since when are you entitled to absolute "privacy" when voluntarily doing business with a private company?

i guess you missed googles privacy policy on dns

OR THE FACT THAT GOOGLE DNS SERVICE IS OPTIONAL!

if your tinfoil hat isn't working so good, don't use google dns
