Snow Snake is about 45 minutes from Midland. I've never skiied there, but it has a kiddie friendly reputation.

Caberfae is about 2 hours away, bigger than Snowsnake.

Crystal Mountain is like a multi-day resort kind of place, we've skiied a lot there, about 2.5 hours away

The big daddy of lower peninsula skiing is probably Boyne Mt. / Boyne Highlands, lots to do, about 2.5 hours away
