Re: Centurylink XBOX live chat & party problem??

I do need to setup dyndns. I will do that tonight.

I see what you are saying about the DMZ. The only thing is I am able to connect with others that are not on Centurylink. This is with and without the DMZ setup. If it was a config issue on my side I shouldn't be able to connect to live or other players. We were also both able to connect about a month ago with our old 360 consoles and the same routers and router configs.

I know NAT can be an issue, we both have open NAT.

Any luck? I was thinking about this tonight at work, all I could come up with is the wrong ip either entered or resolved.

So I brought my 360 to my parents house, they are on a Charter circuit. I connected to Live and was able to party up and join a game with the person I couldn't while on CenturyLink.

I contacted support at CenturyLink and was sent up the the IT rescue support. Only thing they suggested was change DNS and try putting the modem in bridge mode. I find it hard to believe that it is a DNS issue. And I doubt bridging the modem will solve anything.

It sucks that I am going to have to cancel CenturyLink since they can't fix their issue.

I'm just outside of Troy, Missouri and don't have any problems connecting to XBOX Live using centurytel's DSL on a Netgear DGN2000 modem/router. My guess it that the router on century's modem provided to you isn't xbox live compatible (hence the need to use bridge mode).

The problem is not connecting to XBL. The problem is partying up, chat, and gaming with another person who is also on CentruyTel.

Bridging the modem is worth a shot. I will try that tonight. The thing is I have had ZERO problems with XBL before. I have had CentruryTel for over 3 years now.

SUCCESS!!

Put the modem in bridge modem and setup the router for PPPoE. My friend did not make any changes to his setup. As long as it's working we're not going to change anything

Lucas:

Once you put your modem in bridge mode, unplug both your modem and router. Wait a few minutes...then plug in your modem and wait for the DSL light to stay solid. Once it's solid, plug in your router.
The internet light will disappear once your modem is in bridge mode as that is normal.
