Re: How can MS detect if Xbox 360 has been opened? said by Michail:I just ordered and exact revision drive. I figured the PCB swap would be the easiest process on this drive. I already pulled out the old PCB. The key swap with the firmware looked like a PITA, especially with the additional CD audio hack required for the revision I have. If the drive doesn't work I'm not going to be able to use that hack. The kids have been happy playing new demo downloads so far. Hmm, now that it's open I wonder if there is anything I can do to quiet that horrible fan sound? Have you been using the xbox without the DVD drive installed?
Might want to hook up the DVD drive while you wait for the new one. -- University of Southern California - Class of 2010. Fight On! |

I hope MS doesn't ban it over something like that. I guess I'll find out. |

I'd be surprised if they banned you for just disconnecting the DVD drive, but they will know if they want to find out. -- University of Southern California - Class of 2010. Fight On! |

I guess they have to be careful since it could also be a legitimate hardware failure.
I'll just keep it powered off till the new one is here.
By data cable do you mean the SATA cable or the extra pins on the proprietary power connector? |
