Version 6 is somewhat limited in functionality (8MB ram, 2 MB flash), thought it can run some 3rd party firmware (DD-WRT micro) the feature set is limited due to the lack of ROM space. In its current state it does have removable antennas which can be useful, and with the wireless & routing features off can be a 4 port switch. Now that you don’t need to know German to use it you could sell it to a much larger market.
Change firmware and you can configure it as a wireless client, very useful if you need intranet/Internet access and you don't have a long enough cable at hand. Keeping it preconfigured to connect to your wireless network means you can let a house guest make use of your wireless without given them the encryption key (ok it is not as sleek as a USB wireless stick but it gets the job done). |
