 | Re: New Plugin That Adds Lots of Features To magicJack RELEASED Have you used it? What do you like most about it? Is it easy to install - and more importantly - is it easier than MagicJack to uninstall? |
|
1 edit | I have started using this myself and it does come with an uninstall program.
My own needs are relatively simple. For me, the callerid name+number mixed with the dial 69 call return feature is pretty handy. The 7 digit dialing within my own local area code also makes local calling on the magicJack feel more like my regular landline. |

It's nice they have a free demo. But, I didn't want to install it just to see what it is. It would be nice if they provided product screenshots.

For a screenshot of the MagicfeaturesPlugin "Features Dashboard" and a description of the features visit »www.pcphonesoft.com/featuredetails.html .
To open the "Features Dashboard" all you have to do is double left mouse click on the program's icon in the lower right hand portion of your screen.
For further details, you really need to download it and give it a go yourself. The features work as described. |

Re: "Magicfeatures" Adds Features Incl. Caller ID (Name+Number) The call blocking features work nicely. I'm using the trial version and don't seem to be able to get the double ring to work. The 7 digit calling is awesome and works as promised. |
|
1 edit | For technical support stuff, there is an active support forum at »www.pcphonesoft.com .
I double checked and the double ringing feature is working for me. Open the "Features Dashboard" window and make 100% sure the Double Ringing feature checkbox is ticked and then press OK to save the setting and close the window.
If that feature is on, you should hear your phone physically ring 7-8 times before going to voice mail instead of 4 rings. |

 | reply to redpepper Unfortunately, the "Name" feature of Magicfeatures is NOT a CID name, but a name that you programmed yourself in your own speed dial list.
I assume that the Call RETURN merely dials the latest incoming caller ID, and will not work on anonymous calls. They might want to change the number for that feature except for intimate calls. |

 | reply to sabresfan sabresfan I see you also use MagicBeans which software do like the best? |

 | Release 1.01 is now available for download at »www.pcphonesoft.com
The initial discrepancies you guys have mentioned above have been fixed. |
|
2 edits | reply to Solearth The caller id "name" is taken from either the Speed Dial table OR the contact entries. The same type methods are used for the caller id "name" displayed on most cell phones. We are however looking to see if there are any reliable free reverse lookup databases in the public domain that can be used in a feature enhancement.
For clarification, anonymous calls cannot be returned as the caller's number is simply not available. The number 69 is used for this feature as that most closely aligns with the U.S. dialing code standards for the Call Return feature. |

| reply to newmjuser I like different things on both. I like the call blocking features on Plugin better than Magicbeans as it's more responsive and sends the calls to voicemail better on my laptop. The 7 digit calling and caller id name are also excellent features. On Magicbeans there's the ability to transfer calls which is a great feature as well. I'm gonna get Plugin this weekend it's a great addition and you guys have some nice products that fit in real nice with MJ. Good job and best of luck. |

| reply to redpepper I have both the MJ and Xlite plugins running now and they work great. I have the Xlite plugin running using my sipgate account. I like this because you can choose the caller id you want to be shown. I have the caller id set as my googlevoice number which rings my MJ. Great product redpepper thanks. |

 | reply to redpepper Really like the feature that does not require me to dial my home area code. i.e. only 7 digits, thanks, looking forward to other enhancements. |

 | CALLER ID NAME - REAL TIME ONLINE WHITE PAGES REVERSE LOOKUP
This capability was developed in direct response to a great suggestion from a forum member. For private numbers, cellphone numbers and international numbers where a White Page lookup will not work, the caller's location (state or country) is looked up and displayed.
The Real Time Online White Pages Lookup capability is available for following Caller ID (Name+Number) features in Release 1.02 of the "MagicfeaturesPlugin" posted today for download:
1. Caller ID 2. Call Waiting Caller ID 3. Blocked Call Chime With Caller ID |

reebok join:2004-11-11 Lakeland, FL 1 edit | I am still using viatalk and am kind of waiting to see what happens with GV/gizmo5, but I am intrigued by mj also. so pardon my ignorance, but does this cnam workaround (specifically the whitepages lookup) display on the handset or only on the computer? |
|
sabresfanSabresfan join:2009-05-03 Hope Mills, NC | It shows up on the phones headset and the computer screen. |

reebok join:2004-11-11 Lakeland, FL | thanks for the info. I am also concerned about the very limited selective call block list. I have dozens of numbers blocked right now (yes that's including using the 800* wildcard). if I remember right, magicjackbeans has some sort of simple text list (unlimited in other words) for call blocking. |

GorkOu812ic join:2001-10-06 Bountiful, UT 4 edits | reply to redpepper Has anyone in addition to redpepper been able to verify that call waiting caller id works at the handset with this software? That, especially coupled with the white pages lookup in v1.2 intrigues me.
And I thought normal incoming caller id with name worked at the handset with vanilla magicJack if the name was programmed into MJ's smartphone. Am I wrong? Perhaps I've forgotten and it's only working that way for me with #s which have been programmed into my handset.
Much better web page, btw, than what magic beans came up with... And redpepper , are you the developer of this new software? Or at least involved somehow? Or just a user?
EDIT Also, anyone know if you can turn off the "7 digit dialing" feature? My market has just been changed and we are required to dial 10 digits, even in the same area code. Or does the software actually dial the area code, just automatically without user intervention?
2nd EDIT Nevermind, redpepper . I see you're involved with the development of the software. |

| The call waiting caller id works. The 7 digit calling dials 10 digits but you only have to enter 7 digits to dial your own area code. The caller id if the name can not be found will either display unknown and the number or will show the state (NC, NY) and the number. I can also say the call blocking features work as well. |
