| 23Mbps I just upgraded to the U-verse 12Mbps tier from 6Mbps not long ago, and am happy for now. However, I just bought a PS3 and am doing the downloaded game demos and also the Netflix Watch Instantly, so I may need more speed, but don't feel like paying extra at this point. I guess it will come in handy to have it as an option. I am more intrigued at the prospect of U-verse being able to allow for more simultaneous HD streams. I think that is a major issue they need to deal with as well. So far, I love the service despite its technical limitations. In my area, Mediacom and Comcast offer slightly faster internet speeds and some good introductory offers, but people are dropping them for U-verse at an amazing rate. |

·WOW Internet and..
| i love how everyone claims that "everyone in my area is dropping X cable company for U-Verse or FiOS at an amazing rate" or "everyone in my neighborhood has dropped XX for ATT or VZ".
If that was the truth the cable companies would offer better deals and drop pricing. Also remember how owns the programming that you purchase from ATT. Comcast owns a good share of it and will keep buying more and more. You're cable bill from U-Verse depends on Comcast. -- www.two-pugs.com www.2pugs.etsy.com |

4 edits | My neighbors are dropping cable, and Mediacom is offering better deals, ALL of the time! In fact, I get about one flier per week from Mediacom, all of which get filed in the trash. This past week, they just offered their "best deal ever." Sounds desperate to me. The deal was 24.95 per month individually for internet, phone, and digital cable for one year. I might have been enticed if I wasn't aware from other customers of their's how badly their TV service sucks and how unreliable they have been in the past. Mediacom even has people walking through the neighborhood knocking on doors on a monthly basis. If cable companies were sitting so pretty, why is this happening? Also, why would there also so many DirecTV, Dish Network dishes in the yards as well as AT&T trucks sitting in a yard installing U-verse so often? Your quote "Also remember how [sic] owns the programming that you purchase from ATT" is absolutely false. They have only bought ONE provider, NBC Universal. That doens't equal "the programming."
I realize you are talking about Comcast in your reply. However, fortunately for the sake of society, Comcast isn't the only cable company in the country. We have other ones that provide the same lackluster, partially anolog offerings as well. Mediacom and Comcast are virtually the same, sorry HD selection, partially analog, etc... I am a former Comcast subscriber and have friends with them now, I know what I am speaking about. |
