Re: Certainly would be nice if I could get it.

Also you believe everything ATT has to say in their press releases?

Sounds like it. But then again, you're a customer.
Dude. Come on. You're being ridiculous.

Information about number of subs is audited financial information that affects stock prices. Any company that lies about things like that ends up having CEOs/CFOs go to jail. It doesn't happen very often, and I think the chances of it happening with AT&T are non-existent.

Also, I'm not going to take the time to research it, because you are obviously biased and it wouldn't make any difference. But the last time I checked, AT&T's rate of signing up customers versus the number of homes passed was right up there with the industry, if not better.

Re: Certainly would be nice if I could get it.

just because they sign up the customer doesn't mean they keep the service. very long. that's the point. Also what do they have to do to earn that customer? I'm sure they'll tell that customer anything they want to hear. ATT isn't all that good.

And biased? you sound like it yourself. And ATT going to jail? Lets see, they have committed several felonies in this country against Americans, and non-americans and yet the same people are still there in their seats.

I don't see them going anywhere. Also who do you think has one of the largest contracts for the gov't? It's surely not Qwest.

That's false. There has not even been a hint, much less a charge, of criminal action against AT&T for the "wiretapping" stuff (which is what I assume you're talking about), by either the Bush or Obama administrations.

All that ever happened was a civil lawsuit which is not a criminal "felony" charge. That lawsuit has been dismissed.

It may be your OPINION that crimes were committed. That does not equal facts.

Re: Certainly would be nice if I could get it.

they were crimes, both administrations allowed ATT to get off without charges. Hence why everything is now gone and the NSA programs still happen and ATT still funnels YOUR data to them.

And how is it my opinion that a crime was committed. There is proof. ATT knowingly placed all the equipment in those COs to do the wire taps. they placed the data in the hands of the NSA WITHOUT any warrants. Which ATT SHOULD HAVE requested. But they didn't. In return they get the gov't contracts with VZ.

Qwest as I stated did not have anything to do with NSA and told them to screw off without warrants. what did qwest get in the deals of gov't bidding, NADA! But like i said, you must have some stake in ATT, either that loyal of a customer or you work for them.

Re: Certainly would be nice if I could get it.

The main reason Quest does not get gov contracts is because the have very little to offer. The company is in a very slow death spiral. There number are so bad that the new at&t does not even want to merge with them.
In the legal department Qwest is not the best example to use except in this one case. SBC, BellSouth and Verizon were wrong but it is had to bite the hand that feeds you. The government was even more wrong to ask them to do it. There are reports that the requests were made before 9/11
And like dog it is just your opinion and from what I have seen some customers have great service and others had to cancel because there service was terrible. The problem with sites like U-talk you get a lot more people having problems then you get that everything is great. In some areas at&t acts like keystone cops and other areas the tech was there and fixed the problem in less then 2 hours.

Re: Certainly would be nice if I could get it.

thats because ATT doesn't subtract those numbers. They just keep adding to them.

MyDog must have some personal stake in the company to believe everything they have to say.

lol exactly.

I love these people who just MAKE SH*T UP and pound it into posts, again, and again, and again as if repeating it would make it true.

They must have some huge anger issue or something that makes them so hard over with these conspiracy theories.

Look, I try to deal in the real world. Even if I don't like it. Reality exists.

Here's some reality: no I have no stake in AT&T. Yes I'm a relatively satisfied customer, but not a biased fanboy. For example I dumped U-verse TV for cable but kept U-verse Internet. Why? Because cable TV was better FOR ME, but U-verse Internet was better FOR ME than cable internet.

I think people who just rant on one side or the other are an interesting phenomenon. I usually try once or twice to inject facts but it doesn't work with some. You can't make the blind see, I guess.

I mean, there are some things that are a matter of opinion, like who's got the better service. (My normal advice to people is: if you're happy with what you've got, stay with it. If not, look at switching. And here's some info about features, pluses/minuses, etc. And here's my personal story, your mileage may vary.)

And there are some things that are just facts. Like, publicly traded company investor calls where they give financial information about number of customers or other relevant information are extremely unlikely to be lies. Cooking the books sends the CxOs to jail. Like, BY DEFINITION no crimes were committed in the "warrantless wiretap" kerfuffle. I mean, come on people, if you are going to be that far out on the conspiracy axis, there's really no point having a discussion. It's like trying to discuss the space program with someone who thinks we faked the moon landings.
