Re: New Mediacom Email I've tried using just the info before the @ but that has never worked for me. But then again, it doesn't work for me when using Outlook or Outlook Express either. So, I've always used the full e-mail address as the login user. As previously described ... what "should" work doesn't. What was "supposed" to work previously didn't either, I guess I was just lucky enough to find the magical combination ... for a while anyway. Prior to all this happening, I wasn't able to get it to work when I first got the phone and through another forum, I found someone post to use the outgoing server of cwmx.com rather than mail.mchsi.com and as long as I used port 25 and no SSL, that worked. Supposedly, there was some issue with the mail.mchsi.com outgoing server not working from the AT&T cell network and the cwmx.com server was a hold-over from cingular wireless which the AT&T network would allow. |

Re: Official Mediacom Email Discussion Thread I am tracking down a smart phone that I can use to test the settings and provide all you of with the settings. Surprisingly there are no smart phones near me that I can use. |

you're okay, Jason! I just have to give the company any shot i can! |

 | Now that was funny. thank god for this forum or i would be freaking on clueless mediacom operators if you can understand them. Just answer 1 stupid question. Why would you do something like this at the busiest time of the year. Why even try. How about at tax time not xmas. |

1 edit | reply to wth Ok I finally got my hands on an IPhone that is running off the AT&T network. Here are the settings that I had to use to get the mail to work off that phone.
full email address as email id SSL on for both inbound and outbound ports 465(out)/995(inbound) server mail.mediacombb.net and mail.mchsi.com
Edit to specify ports as inbound or outbound. |
|
 | How about US Cellular network? I keep trying any combo but still nothing |

Can you specify if you used the "mediacombb.net" for the inbound or the outbound (I actually tried it both ways and couldn't get it to work) but for others using AT&T that might help to clarify. |

I was just informed that Mediacom is working on getting all the phone networks to be working with the new email server. ATT was just added and you do not need to use the off net settings. On the phone, that I have access to for testing, we just entered the name and email address and the rest was obtained automatically. We did get the security cert warning twice but once we click on continue everything was working. I have informed the group working on getting the mail server to work with smart phones about the issues that you all have reported to me. |

 | reply to wth I'm happy to say that my e-mails are now being pushed to my Blackberry. There's a small wait, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I was also able to send an e-mail to myself (yipeee), to Hotmail, and to Cox... well, at least they haven't been bounced yet. Maybe they made it.
I have a strange feeling that this is still far from over... |

 | reply to wth Could you check on Blackberry curve on the Sprint network. I have not been able to get my home emails forwarded for about 5 days now.
Thanks you |

 | reply to MediacomJasn Thank you so much, MediacomJasn! I could not get email to work on my iPhone (on AT&T service) when I changed the settings manually, but deleting the account and starting a new one worked like a charm. It's good to hear that email ding again. |

 | reply to MediacomJasn THANK YOU MediacomJason - email is working fine again! YOU made it possible for many of us to sleep! Just knowing we were all in the same boat made it seem not as bad! I do agree with others that another time of year may have been a better choice than the Christmas season. Merry Christmas! Enjoy your time with your family. |

 | reply to wth for those of you still having pop troubles, I talked to a tech at mediacom and he said the directions on the site are wrong and this step3 where it says and points an arrow to my server requires authentication box doesn't need to be checked!!!
so I unchecked it and now my email sends out...wow seriously what a cluster....
Step 3: Select the Servers tab, Incoming mail server is a POP3 server Change the incoming and outgoing servers to mail.mediacombb.net. Enter your full email address and password Check My server requires authentication box under Outgoing Mail Server section. |

1 edit | reply to MediacomJasn Well ... I wish I could report success like the others. I'm still having the same results as before with all combinations of the information provided so far. From the description, I'm guessing I must be running into the certificate issue but my phone (Nokia e71x) doesn't prompt to allow the outdated certificate. As long as I'm using the off net settings, I get a message that the login has failed. If I use the on net settings, it churns for a bit and then times out. Please post any other ideas or when the certificate issues have been resolved. Thanks. |

 | reply to wth Looks like Jason has saved us all! Thanks! I have an address which is still rejecting my email. ----@wbfrec.com. Up around Iowa Falls, IA. Just a note to pass along for future corrections. Thanks again. |
