 | reply to wth My Mediacom email problems seem to be solved. For a couple of days I was not receiving mail and I could not send any mail using Thunderbird 3. When I tried to send with Thunderbird 3 I got the unable to authenticate to SMTP server error message. Thunderbird 2 will send without error. I had both versions of Thunderbird installed. In additions to problems with Mediacom email service, there may be problems with the new Thunderbird client (I uninstalled it). |

Looks like I'm starting to get my emails now as well; except now I see a new problem. Some of my emails, in particular ones I sent to @hotmail domains, are getting kicked back saying there are "domain / security" problems with the email.....odd.
Exactly, Hotmail AND Earthlink...

 | reply to wth Ok, so what changes should be made in Outlook? Should I change server names? What about ports? Please someone tell me the exact settings for Outlook...EXACT! |
|
1 edit | I still can not send to addresses I have been mailing for YEARS. Nothing goes through to friends with AOL or Gmail addresses.
My incoming mail has disappeared for the most part. I got a newsletter from Godaddy, one email from a friend on aol and 2 test email from me to me.
This is really sucking big time. |

I switched back to the original settings to avoid the view certificate stuff. Sadly, you will still be blocked by Hotmail and Earthlink
the old settings for incoming mail is: mail.mchsi.com and the port is 110 the use secure connection should be clicked to never
out going mail server is mail.mchsi.com and the port number is 25. the use secure connection should be clicked to never -- Humanity - The greatest natural disaster of all time. |

 | reply to wth I still have not received or been able to send ANYTHING since Thursday morning. And they tell you to go to www.mediacomtoday.com and use the email login there. That's a joke. The email page won't even load. When is there going to be a resolution to this? |

 | reply to wth Hello, We are currently aware of the bounce back issues. I have taken your examples and forwarded them on to the techs who are currently working on it. I do assure you that once we have all this resolved, the new system will provide a better overall experience. Once again, we do appreciate your patience while we resolve this. |

Why isn't there ANYTHING about this on the Mediacom website? No wonder there are 16 pages of posts on this subject in just the past 3 days. If we're supposed to use new e-mail servers, how are we supposed to know that? What are we supposed to do about the invalid certificate messages? Why was there such short notice before making a major overhaul to the system? Even if you don't have answers to these questions yet, there should be some sort of notification in bright red flashing letters (or something to get your attention) on the Mediacom homepage.
On the bright side, Mediacom Usenet service just got around 1000% better in the last couple of weeks. Much faster download speed, almost 100% complete posts, 9 month retention. So that's nice at least. |

 | reply to wth Another issue - and I apologize if this has been discussed previously - I can't seem to get emails on my blackberry now. Even the emails that actually are delivered to my windows mail don't show up - this was working fine before the switchover. There's no place in the blackberry set-up to tell it anything about mail servers, etc. - it just wants your email address and password. Anyone had this issue? Anyone figured it out? |
|
 | reply to wth I clicked on the above link. It says that Mediacom will send information about new features to their customers' email addresses. But, how does that help all the people who can't get into their email acccounts anymore? That's like the electric company telling people to turn on their TVs to get updated information on a power failure. |

| reply to wth I've been sending test emails off and on all day and the receiving side seems to be working pretty well. Emails I send to my mchsi account are usually received in seconds. Emails sent from mchsi are taking any where from 45 minutes to 2-1/2 hours to be received in other accounts. |
|
1 edit | reply to wth Test emails sent from Yahoo and Gmail to my Mediacom account only took a minute or two to arrive. With my Hotmail account, I can send an email to my Mediacom account, and it arrives quickly, however a test email sent from my Mediacom account to my Hotmail account has yet to arrive, and that was sent over 15 minutes ago.
Tried the webmail version at Mediacomtoday.com and Microsoft Outlook, and both work great!
As far as my email settings, I didn't change a thing. My @mchsi.com email address and mail.mchsi.com are still the settings in the Outlook account setup.
I would suggest contacting Mediacom with specific "header" information from your emails. If you have a Bounce back message from a previous email sent... that would be useful information to pass on to a Mediacom rep.
A Migration of this size was no easy task, and improvements are being made! It'll sure be nice once the bugs are worked out!! |
