1 edit | I am understanding correctly that Zimbra is the software/platform, and that Mediacom is just doing the conversion? I would assume Mediacom is contracting it out? Would have thought it would have been more successful, if the latter.

ltsnowPremium join:2006-04-08 Valdosta, GA kudos:1 1 edit | reply to wth I also cannot send any Emails (Thunderbird or OE). Keep getting errors. Last night I got a bunch of duplicate Emails, but I haven't received any new Emails since. Something is really screwed up. |

 | reply to wth I am so lucky. I sent out an email to all the people that have used my mchsi address in that last 2 years and told them to use my hotmail account. I also changed all the web sites that were sending to Mediacom to use my hotmail account.
I guess I figured that Mediacom would screw up this email conversion like the previous two email conversions (TriSpeed to @home and @home to mchsi (att server).
My Mediacom email is not receiving any messages from the outside world and not allowing SMTP clients to send messages. |

 | reply to wth Always use free mail providers like yahoo, hotmail etc. That way if you change providers you don't have to change your email address. -- I speak for myself, not my employer. |

|
 | I didn't even know they were updating it. I don't use mediacom as an e-mail provider but I do use them as an outgoing smtp when I'm at home so I can still receive e-mails fine, just can't send from it so had to use my Gmail which is annoying. |

 | reply to wth So this was a planned upgrade?
Heck I never got any information or email on it until I logged in here.
My outlook keeps giving me this same error since sometime this morning.
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of inactivity. Account: 'mail.mchsi.com', Server: 'mail.mchsi.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
Am I going to have to reconfirue everything? or wil they eventually get it back to normail? |

I got the Email posted in the beginning of the thread on Tuesday. There has been no mention of having to reconfigure anything so I guess we'll just have to wait until they fix it. |

 | reply to wth Now getting this error if I log out from the webmail window and try to log back in:
"Secure Connection Failed
An error occurred during a connection to dsmdc-mail-mbs8-svc.mcomdc.com:8080.
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)
* The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified.
* Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site."
And will there be a page I can go to and just log in there, without having to log into MediacomToday first? Like the commcenter.mchsi.com page? I don't need another infodump - I just need my email. |

MCM @southslope.net | reply to wth Maybe we all need to get some kind of support email to Zimbra and flood them with requests. I sure can't find one to send my complaints to.
I have already sent my opinions to Mediacom, but we all know it will go unheeded.
I am like most of you, I cannot access my email through my Outlook, as I get the same error messages you all do.
And yes, Mediacom customer support is way worse than normal, with the pre-recorded announcements as to the "problem" and that they are working on it.
I would think there should have been some type of beta test.
We are in the process of buying a house, and email service is critical at this time, and luckily we have a couple of Yahoo accounts to use in the meantime until this mess gets cleared out.
I guess when you are the only game in town (cable) you can crap on all your clients. |
