Network Neutrality Pitfalls

That is why all the network neutrality fanboys will regret their decision. The free market allocates resources far more efficiently than government edict, which is really only a cave-in to certain special interests.

I'm reminded of the phrase "Damned if you do, damned if you don't."

"Yes, this service counts against Comcast 250 GB monthly cap. Which is annoying for those who need to back up a significant volume of large files frequently. Of course excluding the service from the cap would have given Comcast an unfair advantage against other online storage services -- and obviously riled network neutrality advocates."

So essentially JimF, it is a win-win for Comcast. They really can have their cake and eat it too!

Not me. How am I to regret this at all? If this service they offer creates problems for their people and their caps then 1 of 2 things will happen: 1.) They will raise the caps 2.) They will take measures to reduce the use of the service.

They have a service that competes with others out there. Keyword "competes". Shouldn't they have to play on a level playing field and not give their service an advantage over another by NOT counting it?

IMHO, you people that are for companies building a wall garden would regret that if they ever get their way and are allowed to build that garden.

And sometimes the free market needs to be put in check. NN only came about due to the poor behavior of some operators. The only people to blame for NN are the operators who forced people to ask for government intervention.

the problem is that they shouldnt say a damn thing, and just silently at the end of each billing month omit data sent or recv from inhouse services.
