EMail image signatures in Outlook Web AccessI have a question about inserting an image as a signature in Outlook Web Access. This is proving to be more difficult than I realized. I'm using exchange 2007 and I want the image to show up without using S/MIME control because that seems to introduce more complication than anything. I would like to just pull a jpeg image off of my webserver and use that as a signature.
I've been poking around online for a solution to this and it doesn't really seem like there is much out there. Anyone have any solutions that work?
Thanks! |

From the Microsoft Exchange Team Blog: » msexchangeteam.com/archi ··· 674.aspxquote: Pierre, we don't support adding images in the signature this time but thanks for the feature request - we'll add this to our list as well.

Create your signature in HTML, save the file, then follow this: ---- Assuming you have created signature files with text and/or images and saved them in html format, here are the steps to follow so you can use such a signature in outlook 2007: 1. Open the folder Documents and Settings, next 2. open the folder with your username, ex., "Paul", then 3. open the folder Application Data, then 4. open the folder Microsoft, then 5. open the folder Stationery. 6. copy or move all your signature files in html format to the Stationery folder. 7. Open outlook 2007, go to 8. Tools, then 9. Options, then 10. Mail format, then 11. Stationery and Fonts, then 12. Email signature, then 13. Theme, then 14. from Choose a Theme, 15. highlight to choose your signature file. this will be your default signature file until you go through steps 7 through 15 again to select a different signature. 16. click OK 3 times to back out to your main outlook screen. 17. create a new email message and see your signature be there. ---- From: » help.lockergnome.com/off ··· 451.html(EDIT) Oops, I totally missed the OWA part. You're out of luck there. |

Yes, the issue is within OWA. I already have stationeries created in Outlook Looks like Microsoft neglected a few things with OWA. Signatures being one of them, compatibility with other browsers would be another issue. I've heard that Exchange 2010 is going to offer a lot of improvements, one of them being compatibility with multiple browsers. Does anyone know if the signature issue is addressed in 2010 for OWA as well? |

Just for clarification, OWA works perfectly fine with all the browsers, you are just presented with the "light" version in non-IE browsers. As for images in signatures, I doubt that will be fixed as it's a big no-no in the email administration world. It will get you caught in a spam filter in a heartbeat because it is a huge privacy and security risk. It's essentially a way to bypass read receipts and track email without the user's consent. There was a website back in the day that even offered this service but I can't seem to dig it up anymore, almost all email clients disabled loading embedded images from external URLs after that site became popular. |

Is there a better solution? I'm not to keen on sending the images as attachments. |

We had to tackle this same issue at my company and ultimately, we had someone whip up a nicely formatted html signature. |

Thank you for your advise Matt, it much appreciated. I will be doing a little more research into our signatures. |

If you get a chance to play with Exchange 2010, please post back with your thoughts. We're on 2007 now, but I'll need to evaluate 2010 once SharePoint 2010 is released. |

Will do. I might actually get my hands dirty with it next week. I'll share my experiences.

Exchange 2010 is pretty nice. Right now only the HTC HD2 supports it, but I'm guessing that eventually the threaded SMS sync (phone & inbox) will make it's way into most devices. The ability to use OWA (Full Version) with FF or Safari is really nice. I'm not in love with the single color option for OWA, but overall it's really nice. We'll probably migrate from 2007 2010 early next year. |
