Re: Official Mediacom Email Discussion Thread

I get this on Mac OSX Mail v2 (OS X Tiger)
I'm using the settings referenced in the other thread
Anyone have a fix or will this get taken care of when they finish the other problem fixing it?

@mchsi.com

IowaStudent, I think the problem is that mediacom is using unsigned certificates for their ssl servers. Notice that the certificate name, "*.mcomdc.com" does not match the server name in your account, "mail.mediacombb.net". I had the same problem. The work around (hopefully mediacom will fix this) is to select "view certificate" to bring up the certificate, click on the "trust" disclosure triangle, and select "always trust". That worked for me and I have been able to send mail.
However, the "sent" mail has not arrived at my other account and some, but not all, mail sent to my mediacom account (from the other account) has not arrived at all.
It is not fixed yet.
By the way, I am still using my same settings as before with mail.mchsi.com as the server name.
