A better DVR?

When my true blue TiVo (Hughes label) finally started to cough up hairballs, DirecTV shipped out their 'in house" DVR, man was I ever glum, what a gold plated P.O.S.. Is Comcast's DVR any better 'cause the the Triple Play for $79.99/month is starting to look real appealing.

Agreed. When I upgraded to HD-everything, I was forced to take DirecTV's boat-anchor of a DVR, the HR20 (which has been supplanted by the HR21, the HR22, the .., which are all worse). I have owned TiVo's and the DirecTiVo since early 2000 (first was a standalone). The HR2* is an absolute piece o' carp! When I found out that DirecTV FINALLY acknowledged that they don't know their elbows from their******* regarding building a DVR and re-signed a deal for TiVo to make their next HD-DVR, I decided to stay with D* a little longer!

So .. anyone who claims that a DVR-is-a-DVR isn't completely telling the truth. Some companies know what they're doing. It is obvious that the content providers DON'T!

The Comcast Motorola dvr is not that great.
Has many issues with slow remote control response when trying to ff or rw. All the content is locked down so forget about saving something and trying to view it on your portable player later on.
Junk.

Eh. The HR2x aren't that bad. They're not as refined as TiVo but they have most of the function. They also have nice large capacity. Given a choice between the HR2x and paying extra for TiVo, I'll stick with the HR2x.

And yes, I've used TiVo. I even own a Series 3 with Lifetime service, but I still use the HR2x w/ DirecTV, because the overall service with DirecTV is much better than Time Warner+TiVo.
