well..

Nobody didn't say that Steve Jobs wasn't an ego maniac (even if it is fake).
Apple has had (and still has) the ability to deploy on T-Mobile without much change to its device other than frequency band.
They 'could' deploy on Sprint or Verizon, but that'll be a bit of work, as Apple has no CDMA chipsets built, and CDMA as a whole isn't growing much (vs. GSM/UMTS).
