Most likely the phones in Japan are using GSM. If that is case, then would it be possible to use one of their phones with a service provider that uses GSM such as Verizon Wireless here in the states? So far I believe that Verizon, Cingular, and ATT(Soon) are or will be supporting GSM.

I think cingular uses GSM already. I doubt that japanese standards would be compatible with american ones. Heck, look at our own market. Some ATT phones don't work with some cingular's service, which in turn doesn't work with sprint phones. [text was edited by author 2002-01-29 17:24:10]
